Man leaves prison, robs same store 15 years later

Suspect caught robbing the same shoe store twice

Police say a man was released from prison after serving 15 years for robbing a store and then headed straight back to the same store and robbed it again.

NBC New York reports that Christopher Miller, 40, was arrested in 1999 after he tied up the employees and stole the cash from a Stride Rite shoe store in Toms River, N.J.

The day after Miller's recent release from prison, police say he took a bus to the same Stride Rite store and demanded cash from the employees, making off with the cash register drawer containing $389. Police say he was found a few blocks away, with the cash stashed in a gutter.

Toms River Police Chief Mitchell Little told NBC New York that he wonders whether Miller considers prison life home, which is why he committed another crime immediately after being released.

Miller is charged with robbery and is being held on $100,000 bail.
