Family dog called to jury duty in New Jersey

5-year-old German Shepherd asked to 'take a bite out of crime'

Man's best friend was recently called upon to perform his civic duty in New Jersey -- as a juror.

IV Griner, a 5-year-old German Shepherd belonging to Barrett Griner IV, received the jury duty summons in the mail from Cumberland County last Friday, Philadelphia TV station WKYW reported.

After the initial shock, Griner figured out that the "IV" was entered as his first name through a clerical error.

The mixup has since been fixed.

But not before providing some laughs.

"She [the dog] might be good for a cat burglar case or something like that," Griner told Philadelphia TV station WCAU. "The whole thing was just really, really funny."
