Judge: No more kids until man pays child support
Ohio appeals court upholds controversial order from 2013
An appeals court has upheld a judge's controversial order banning an Ohio man from having more kids until he pays his back child support.
Asim Taylor currently owes nearly $100,000 in child support for his four children, the (Elyria) Chronicle-Telegram reported.
In January 2013, Judge James Walther said Taylor couldn't father anymore children while he is on probation for the next five years.
If he violated the order, Taylor would be sent to prison for a year.
In its ruling this week, the Ohio appeals court didn't provide an opinion about whether the judge's order was appropriate.
Instead, it said it didn't have enough information to decide on the merits of the case without a pre-sentence report detailing Taylor's background.
Taylor's attorney plans to appeal to the Ohio Supreme Court. He believes the order violates Taylor's right to reproduce.
