Man holding breath in tunnel causes crash
Police in Oregon say it could have been a game or superstition
A 19-year-old man holding his breath as he drove through a tunnel caused a three-car crash in Oregon.
Daniel J. Calhon told investigators he fainted Sunday afternoon while holding his breath in the tunnel on Highway 26 northwest of Portland, The Associated Press reported.
His car drifted across the centerline and hit another vehicle head-on.
Both vehicles then struck the tunnel walls before another vehicle hit Calhon's Toyota Camry, according to police.
Calhon, his passenger and two people in one of the other vehicles suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Authorities aren't sure why Calhon was holding his breath, but said it could have been a game or superstition.
