JT Townsend's legacy lives on through foundation

Fundraiser planned for next weekend

J.T. Townsend appeared in support of his foundation in January 2009.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – JT Townsend's family is asking for your help to continue his legacy.

The foundation he started is holding a fundraiser Saturday, June 14 at PDQ restaurant at 3260 Hodges Blvd. from 4-10pm.

If you mention the JT Townsend Foundation to the servers, 10 percent of the sale will go to the foundation.

Townsend suffered a spinal cord injury in 2004 while playing football at the Episcopal School of Jacksonville.

He died suddenly June 5, 2013.

His foundation's mission is to help families living in northeast Florida, specifically children and adults with disabilities by providing adaptive equipment or comprehensive financial assistance.

In the last year since Townsend's death, the foundation has provided more than $122,000 worth of adaptive equipment to 55 families.
