Parrot yelling 'Daddy!' sparks police response

Conn. woman called authorities thinking a child was in trouble

Police in Connecticut responding to reports of a child yelling "Daddy!" made a surprising find.

A woman in Fairfield became concerned Thursday after hearing what she thought was a child yelling repeatedly near a school, The Associated Press reported.

When authorities arrived, they found a large green parrot in a tree.

The fire department used a long pole to remove the bird from the tree near Holland Hill School. It then flew onto a bamboo stand.

The parrot was talking nonstop the entire time, spouting off "Daddy," "hello," "what" and other words, according to Fairfield police Lt. James Perez.

Found about a mile from home, the bird was eventually reunited with its owner.
