Domino's charges teen $300K for pizza
Teen orders meal, overdraws checking account by thousands
A hungry teenager ended up paying nearly $300,000 for a Domino's pizza.
19-year-old Nathaniel Bolwell of Newport, England ordered a large pizza, drinks and a couple of side orders from his local Domino's pizza restaurant, according to Metro. The order would typically cost around $30, but the next time he tried to use his debit card, he discovered his account was overdrawn, which struck the teenager as odd.
Bolwell called the bank to find out that his account was overdrawn by 178,000 pounds or roughly $300,000 in American dollars.
Lloyds Bank investigated and Domino's Pizza realized they made a mistake when they accidentally tacked his four digital bank authorization code onto the price of his purchase.
Domino's apologized and the overdraft charges have since been corrected.
