Officers able to track down theft suspect thanks to Facebook post

If you steal a dress, you might want to avoid any pictures of yourself in it.

An Illinois woman is learning that the hard way, according to police, after posting photos to Facebook of herself in a leopard-print dress reported stolen from a local boutique.

Danielle Saxton, 27, now faces misdemeanor retail theft charges, Carterville TV station WSIL reported.

The dress and other clothing and jewelry were stolen from Mortie's Boutique in West Frankfort on July 11.

Boutique co-owner Kert Williams posted about the thefts on Facebook, and people made the connection after seeing his post and the photos posted by Saxton, police said.

Saxton is now free on her own recognizance.
