Selling books to benefit Jacksonville libraries

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Friends of Jacksonville Public Library is holding a Book Warehouse Sale, with the proceeds going toward buying new books and other materials at the libraries.

FJPL said a big donation of shelving from a bookstore that closed allows them to display thousands more books than previous sales, which are anticipated events for book lovers in the area.

"Our Book Warehouse Sales are very popular. Customers can expect great bargains, and they know when they shop at our sales, they're helping the Library," said FJPL President Gail Hunyar.

The very popular $10 bag -- all the books you can stuff into a brown grocery bag -- will be part of the sale. The $10 bag days start on Aug. 3 and continue for the rest of the sale.

Thanks to recent price cuts, FJPL book prices are very low.

Here's the complete schedule for the sale:

  • Friday – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Sunday – Noon to 5 p.m.
  • Tuesday and Thursday  – 4 to 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, Aug. 9 – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
