Owl spotted swimming in Lake Michigan

Bird caught on video doing what appears to be the butterfly strok

Apparently, owls can swim.

Chicago area photographer and birder Steve Spitzer captured the brief, yet amazing, video of a Great Horned Owl swimming the chilly waters of Lake Michigan near Chicago's Rogers Park earlier this week.

The owl had apparently been forced into the water by two peregrine falcons, Chicago TV station WGN reported.

A bird rescue group was called to the scene, but the owl flew away.
