Mistletoe drone causes bloodshed at TGI Fridays
Photographer says part of her nose was chopped off
In theory, it was a pretty cute idea.
But TGI Fridays' 'mobile mistletoe' drone caused some bloodshed in its New York debut.
Georgine Benvenuto, a photographer for the Brooklyn Daily , told the newspaper one of the mistletoe drones at the Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, location spun out of control and whacked her in the face last week.
"It literally chipped off a tip of my nose," she said. "It took off part of my nose and cut me here, right under my chin."
The drone's operator blamed the accident on the reporter accompanying the photographer, saying if she hadn't flinched the drone wouldn't have spun out of control.
A spokesperson for the restaurant chain said no accidents were reported at earlier events in Texas and Long Island, New York.
TGI Fridays plans to continue the promotion.
