DNA from beard leads cops to burglar

New York man caught by the hair on his chinny chin chin, police

A burglary suspect in New York was caught by DNA, according to police.

Not from his blood, but the hair on his chinny chin chin. Or his beard, to be exact.

Leon Tennant, 54, is accused of confronting a woman with a knife in her home in Vienna last December. The woman grabbed his long beard before he fled, The Associated Press reported.

A hair sample was sent for DNA testing, and linked Tennant to the crime, police said.

He had been released from jail in another county on an unrelated offense just last week. He's now been arraigned on first-degree burglary charges.
