In addition, 39 of the creator applicants have been invited to showcase their projects inside the Jacksonville Landing during an offshoot event titled Spark Walk Idea Market.

Spark Walk combines the art and energy of a monthly Art Walk with a one-day One Spark Creator Showcase.  The day-long public event will take place April 6 from noon to 10 p.m. The event is a collaboration between One Spark Inc. and DVI, the producers of First Wednesday Art Walk.

The public event will span 15 blocks and is designed to celebrate the creative energy of Northeast Florida creators, innovators, entrepreneurs, and champions of meaningful social and cultural projects. Art Walk artists and performers will be situated in and around Hemming Park and throughout downtown businesses, with One Spark creators lining Laura Street and located inside the Jacksonivlle Landing.  Spark Walk will also feature two music stages and a dynamic and eclectic food truck village.

Of the creators chosen to participate, One Spark Ventures will also pre-select the top projects and invite those creators to participate in a One Spark Venture Spark Tank event on Thursday, April 7.  This private event will allow the selected creator to present their ideas in front of a panel of judges for validation, feedback and guidance.

The top three creators, as judged by the panel, will be awarded access to the Microsoft BizSpark Plus program, valued at $120,000. The top creator will be awarded the One Spark Ventures seat in a future PS27 Ventures Academy/Accelerator Program.

The creator Innovation Day conference is a celebration of innovation and entrepreneurship on the First Coast, taking place April 7 at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront. This day-long program features 60 speakers and is open to the general public.

Programming includes keynote addresses from Made In Space and Espero Pharmaceuticals leadership, expert presentations, panels, breakout sessions, and workshops teaching best practice skills to help entrepreneurs in four needed areas: innovating your business, funding your business, protecting your business, and running your business.

Representatives from local organizations and the growing Jacksonville entrepreneurial ecosystem will also provide insight about the services they offer and how entrepreneurs can access these resources. A full-day hackathon (“HackaJax”) will pit teams of college and high school students against each other to solve a real life challenge Jacksonville faces.  The conference will be valuable for everyone who supports innovation in northeast Florida.

Curated by Jax Community of Entrepreneurs and One Spark Ventures, the intent is to give participants the tools and inspiration they need to take the next step in launching or growing their business in Jacksonville.
A limited number of tickets for Creator Innovation Day are still available for purchase online at creatorinnovationday.com.

Advanced-purchase tickets are available for $20, with a student rate of $15. Email info@jaxcoe.org for information about sponsorships and exhibit booths.

A wrap-up networking session will follow the conference at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville’s picnic pavilion for the Jacksonville Suns home opener against the Birmingham Barons. Transportation will be provided to and from the Hyatt.  The game begins at 7:05 p.m.  Creator Innovation Day tickets include the cost of admission to the ballpark.
