Volunteers asked to clean up hurricane debris at Jacksonville's parks

City looking for help cleaning up 20 parks

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The city of Jacksonville and Keep Jacksonville Beautiful are asking for volunteers to help clean up debris left behind by Hurricane Irma at 20 parks on Saturday.

Site captains at each cleanup location will register volunteers and provide bags and latex gloves. Volunteers must be over 18 or accompanied by an adult and are asked bo bring work gloves and rakes, if possible.

People are asked to wear sturdy, closed-toe footwear, wear sun protection and bring water. 

Service hour certificates will be provided for students.

  • Boone Park, 3700 Park Street
  • Dutton Island Preserve, 793 Dutton Island Road (Meet at the trailhead on north side of road before the causeway; not on the actual island.)
  • Exchange Club Island (Must provide your own kayak, canoe or boat.  Closest public launch is at Arlington Road Boat Ramp. Meet site captain by the new dock at SE corner of the island at 9 a.m.
  • Huguenot Memorial Park, 10980 Heckscher Drive
  • Jim King Park and Boat Ramp at Sisters Creek, 8203 Heckscher Drive
  • Joe Carlucci Sisters Creek Boat Ramp, 8414 McKenna Drive
