JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The St. Johns Town Center is a place that continues to grow even through slow economic times.
It seems every time you turn around, there's a new business or restaurant at the popular Southside destination. And now it's welcoming three new stores.
"We're seeing a lot of bags in the parking lot, which is a sign that people are ready to shop, and they're ready to spend some money that they do have. So we're welcoming them to come here," Simon Malls spokeswoman Lyndsay Rossman said.
One of the new businesses is Medifast, a weight control center, which opened its second store in Jacksonville a few weeks ago.
The new location is where GameStop once was. GameStop fans need not worry. There's still a GameStop location by Subway at the Town Center.
"We've all seen so many places close shops up that it's great to see new businesses come back in," Town Center shopper John Grell said. "It means this economy is coming together some."
Another newbie is La Biotique, which offers beauty products and services like eyebrow threading and henna tattoos. It's located where Spice used to be, and it opened Friday.
Guys, don't worry. The third place opening is geared toward you.
JoS. A. Bank, which manufactures and sells various styles of men's clothing, will open its third local store where MovieStop used to do business. It's still under construction and opens its doors in May.
"I'm really looking forward to this being open right now," Grell said. "I shop out at the beach at the Joseph A. Bank store, and it's great that it's going to be at St. Johns Town Center and I don't have to go so far. I can come here to shop, then go over here for lunch."
The St. Johns Town Center opened in 2005 and gets about 10 million visitors a year.
Currently, there are only two vacancies for potential businesses.
