Florida adds private sector jobs in January

14,440 new jobs in January, up 24% from last year


There are 14,440 new private sector jobs in Florida.

The Sunshine State saw a 24 percent increase in job creation this January compared to the same period last year. The data comes from a report by ADP, a payroll and human resources management firm.

According to the South Florida Sun Sentinel, the most jobs, 2,500, were added in trade, transportation, utilities, and retail jobs. That was followed by professional and business services, which added 2,300 jobs.

Construction and mining added 800 jobs, manufacturing added 600 jobs, ADP reports.

Across the U.S., 213,000 jobs were added in January, a 22 percent improvement from a year ago.

The Sun Sentinel reported that medium-sized businesses, classified as businesses with 50 to 499 employees, added the most jobs, with 95,000 new jobs in January. Small businesses added 78,000 jobs.
