JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Playtex is recalling sets of children's plates and bowls over concerns that a plastic layer could pose a choking hazard to young children.

The recall, issued Tuesday, covers Playtex plates and bowls, which have a variety of printed designs, including cars, construction scenes, giraffes, princesses and superheroes, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The CPSC reports a clear plastic layer over the illustrations can bubble or peel. So far, Playtex has gotten 372 reports of that happening. In addition, the company has received 11 reports of pieces of the detached plastic ending up in children's mouths, including four choking incidents.

The products are sold at Babies 'R' Us, Target, Walmart, Amazon and other stores nationwide. They are sold separately and as mealtime sets with a plate, bowl, utensils and a cup.

Consumers should stop using the recalled plates and bowls immediately and keep them away from young children, according to the CPSC. For a full refund, contact Playtex.
