NEPTUNE BEACH, Fla. – Neptune Beach police said the city will close down 1 Street to all traffic on the Fourth of July.
As a matter of public safety and in an attempt to prevent and limit property damage, all vehicular traffic and parking on 1st Street will be prohibited on July 4 from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Intersecting roadways to 1st Street will be restricted to local thru traffic only. Officers will be stationed at fixed positions to enforce the closure and assist motorists.
Residents in the affected area will be notified prior to the closure via flyers and through the reverse-911 call system (Code-Red).
Drivers should expect heavy traffic congestion throughout the day.
Due to the large crowds, police are urging people to keep small children under adult supervision at all times, especially on the beach. Pedestrians should only cross roadways at designated crosswalks.
Police are reminding visitors of the following prohibited activities, which will be strictly enforced:
- Disorderly conduct
- Open alcoholic beverages on public property
- Fireworks which are airborne or explode
