Duval County schools open back-to-schooll bus hotline

School district opens call center in advance of school reopening

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.

Duval County school district is preparing for the new school year by answering questions about the school's new bus policies, routes and other issues.

The call center opened at 7 a.m. Tuesday and phone lines will be open until 6:30 p.m. each day through Aug. 26. Some of the most commonly asked questions include where to catch the bus and what bus changes to expect this year.

Duval County schools expect about 50,000 student to ride the buses this year.

"This year, we've made some more changes because we have more magnet schools being added," assistant superintendent of operations Don Nelson said.

The number is 904-381-7433. You can also check bus routes at the Duval County schools' website.

Before the school year starts, the district wants parents to do a few things to get ready. First, make sure your children know their bus number. The district also needs to have an up-to-date phone number of parents.

If your child doesn't recognize the area where the bus stops, make sure they talk to their driver.
