WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – A 27-year-old Haines City High School teacher was arrested on suspicion of sending nude photos to a boy, even after knowing his age, because he was the "only one who understands her," police said.

Robin Dunlap, of Winter Haven, was arrested on charges of transmitting material harmful to a minor and using a two-way communication device to commit a felony.

Winter Have police said Dunlap voluntarily turned herself in to authorities in September, saying she had send nude photos to a 15-year-old boy in Texas. She said she turned herself in after learning the age of the boy, who had told her that he was 19 years old while communicating via Xbox One, according to police.

Authorities said their conversations continued on Kik and video chats on their phones.

The boy's mother learned about the messages and called Dunlap, prompting Dunlap to turn herself in, police said.

The boy's father, however, contacted Winter Haven police in October, saying that Dunlap was still talking to her son via Google Hangouts, officials said.

Police said they discovered that several conversations continued between Dunlap and the boy after she learned that he was 15 years old.

Detectives met with Dunlap on Sunday, and she said she continued to speak to the boy because he was the only person who understands her, according to police.

Authorities said the conversations progressed between the two and became extremely vulgar, with sexually explicit language.

"There is absolutely no excuse for an adult, especially a high school teacher, to continue sexually explicit conversations with a 15-year-old, long after his real age is revealed," Winter Haven Police Chief Charlie Bird said. "The vulnerable age of this victim and the fact that this woman took advantage of him for her own personal needs is inexcusable."

Dunlap was arrested and booked into the Polk County Jail.
