Study: Viagra can perk up wilting flowers

Drug keeps Valentine's buds blooming

ORLANDO, Fla. – If you are looking for a way to keep your Valentine's Day flowers looking fresh -- try a little Viagra.

A study published in the British Medical Journal indicates just 1 milligram of the prescription drug can keep them fresher for up to a week longer than normal.

The advice is also touted by TV gardener David Domoney, who said a little bit of the drug should be dissolved in the water.

Domoney said nitric oxide, the chemical in the drug, relieves impotence because it relaxes the muscles on blood vessels. A similar process slows down flowers' wilting.
