Last month, Channel 4's Chris Parenteau had a chance to catch up with Nichols in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at Bayou Country Superfest. Nichols told Parenteau he loves playing in front of big crowds.

"It's a big event, a lot of fans, crazy country fans," Nichols said. "A lot of drinking, so that means we sound better. It's fun, all around fun deal."

Nichols has five singles that have topped the country charts and eight top 10s. Nichols newest song "Yeah" is already up to No. 13 and is the fastest rising of his career.

"It's climbing the charts quick. It's selling, connecting with the fans. Only thing you can ask for with a song like 'Yeah' is that it connects with radio and with fans. So far, so good," Nichols said. "It's outpacing and outselling 'Sunny and 75' and that was a big song for us. We are happy it's back-to-back."

Sometimes picking a song to release doesn't come easy.

"It's a fine line and sometimes you have to put out something that nobody else would," Nichols said. "And sometimes you feel like you should put something out that's quick and likable on the radio."

Nichols loves to perform and have fun on stage, especially if he's performing one of his most well-known songs, "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off."

He said he enjoys getting the chance to meet fans before his shows and hear some of their feedback.

Nichols will get the party started Sunday night on the main stage at 5 p.m.
