Universal Orlando employee dies while working on ride

Theme park says incident has nothing to do with safety of 'Men in Black' ride

ORLANDO, Fla. – A Universal Orlando ride technician died Tuesday while working on an attraction at the theme park, officials said.

The fatal incident was reported about 2:30 a.m. at the "Men in Black" ride.

The worker has only been identified by authorities as a 60-year-old man.

"The incident does not appear to be suspicious," Orlando police said.

"This is sad news for all of us and we will do everything we can to take care of his family and our team members," Universal said in a statement.  "We are working to fully understand what happened and we will cooperate with all relevant authorities. "We are not going to speculate about what happened, but we can say this has nothing to do with ride safety or the guest experience."

The ride was closed because of an investigation. It's not known when it will reopen.

No other details have been released.
