Pandora: The World of Avatar to open in summer 2017

Disney releasing new details about Avatar attraction

ORLANDO, Fla. – Never before seen images are giving Disney-goers a taste of what Pandora: The World Of Avatar will look like when it's all finished.

The themed area is currently under construction at the Animal Kingdom, and is set to open in summer 2017.

The Chairman of Walt Disney World made the announcement over the weekend during a Disney conference. He also talked more about what visitors can expect.

He said the entry bridge will take them to the base camp of Alpha Centauri Expeditions. From there, they can explore the Na'vi River Journey, as well as Avatar Flight of Passage. He said there are also restaurants and shops to visit.

"Wow! It's just so magical! To me, it's something anyone around the world would want to come see," Yvonne Hedgeman said.

She and her kids are big fans of the movie, and are excited to check everything out when it opens.

"It's something totally unique for the kids, for the parents. I mean it's just wonderful and I think it's a great idea they've come up with," she said.

Avatar's creator James Cameron will be in Orlando on Sunday to speak at that same conference. He's expected to release even more details.
