Episode #2: Stretching your money on protein

Turn 3 pieces of chicken into dinner for 6

In the second episode of Culinary Nunnsense, we are trimming away at your grocery bill.

The price of beef, pork and especially chicken seem to go up daily. In our house this makes up the largest portion of our weekly grocery bill. I am always looking for ways to stretch our food budget and this simple tip has helped: About a quarter of your plate -- 5 to 6 ounces of protein -- is a suggested and healthy size.

Have you weighed a single chicken breast lately? I have seen some of these beast breast top the scales at over 12 ounces. That's enough for two portions! So with a quick slice from a sharp knife you now have two servings and at 4.99 per pound, you're also saving.

If you are ready to stretch your food dollar then grab your apron and sharpen those blades, it's time to save money with some Culinary Nunnsence.
