State Surgeon General: No secrets on TB

The State Surgeon General has sent out an email saying it's important that Floridians have the facts on what he says is the isolated cluster of tuberculosis in Duval County.

Dr. John Armstrong said, "I assure you that the Florida Department of Health (DOH) has been and remains wholly committed to preserving Floridians' health, including the protection from diseases such as TB."

Armstrong said that due to misleading reporting from the Palm Beach Post this week, facts have been distorted.

He said not only was the cluster of TB patients in Duval County not kept secret, but rather the Department of Health and the Duval County Health department publicly addressed it, working openly with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
