$5 health fixes

Dr. Oz recommends some home remedies that can relieve the pain for less

Toothaches, back pain, and sore throats – there are easy fixes for all three costing less than $5, and many of these can be found in your home cabinet.

For a toothache, turn to cloves. Biting down on cloves releases an oil with analgesic and antibacterial properties. It relieves pain and also kills bacteria that may be causing the ache.

Honey can soothe a sore throat. Mix a dash of cayenne pepper, one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, and water with the honey to maximize the effect.

Finally, the key to stopping back pain is peppermint! The menthol in peppermint oil is a proven pain reliever. Just drop some of the oil in water, freeze, and rub the ice over your back.

Some studies suggest honey may help minor wounds heal without infection, but its use as an antibacterial is still debatable. People should not put honey on an open wound without talking to a doctor.
