FLEMMING ISLAND, Fla. – Detectives with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office will hold a Drug Take Back event Saturday, giving residents an opportunity to safely discard expired medications, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Walgreens at 1565 County Road 220 in Flemming Island.

According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, most prescription drug abusers report in surveys that they get their drugs from friends and family. Cleaning out old prescription drugs from homes can reduce accidents, thefts, misuse or abuse of the medicines.
Sharp items, mercury products, creams and medical waste items will not be accepted.
