What are your biggest diet killers?

When you're trying to lose weight, even the small things can turn into big problems over time. While you may think cookies, chocolate and carbs are the enemy, according to Consumer Reports ShopSmart Magazine, the two biggest diet killers are probably not what you think. In a recent article, they listed the two things that can give you the most trouble when you are trying to shed some pounds.

Skipping Meals: +8 pounds
Eating fewer meals to lose some extra pounds might seem like a good idea, but it can actually be a diet-buster. Women who said they skipped meals lost about 8 fewer pounds over the course of a year than those who didn't skip them, according to a 2012 study of 123 overweight, postmenopausal women.

Eating Lunch Out: +5 pounds
Researchers found that women who ate lunch out more than once a week lost about five fewer pounds in a year than those who brown bagged it or ate lunch at home. Eating out for breakfast and/or dinner weren't great for the waistline either.

So what does work? Consumer Reports found women who used food diaries to keep track of the snacks and meals lost about 6 pounds more than those who did not keep diligent food journals. They also suggest eating a rainbow of fruits and veggies, watching your portion size, limit fat, eat whole grains and exercise. Plus,

Consumer Reports suggested that you rethink the new diet drug Qsymia. It's for people with weight-related health problems and is meant to work only with diet and exercise. Plus, they said, it can cause serious side effects.
