City of Jax holds holiday open house Friday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Residents and visitors are invited to join Mayor Alvin Brown, Council President Bill Guilford and the city of Jacksonville for the 2nd annual Holiday at St. James.

The event runs from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at City Hall at St. James and Hemming Plaza.

The free event will include a holiday train ride around Hemming Plaza, a chance to meet Santa and his helpers, holiday entertainment, "A Christmas Carol" movie presentation, a holiday photo booth, cookie decorating, face painting, make and take arts and crafts, raffles and giveaways

Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet the mayor and his senior staff and tour the executive office. City Council and general counsel offices will also be open. The evening will culminate with the lighting of the St. James Holiday Tree.

"This will be an event for the entire family with fun, kid-friendly activities," said Brown. "Holiday at St. James is a great time for residents and visitors to enjoy all that Downtown has to offer."
