According to the arrest report, the customer service manager saw Nathaniel Todd, 44, not ring up all the items that Brittany Hunter, 25, brought to his check-out lane. An internal investigation found three instances in which Todd let Hunter leave the store with items she didn’t pay for, and five times in which Hunter under-rang purchases that Todd made.

The loss to the store was over $1,200.

Shawn Sloan, regional vice president, Southern Groceries, parent company of Winn-Dixie, sent a following statement:

We are taking this matter seriously because the trust of our customers and professionalism of our associates are some of our highest priorities. These associates have been terminated and we sincerely appreciate the cooperation of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office to bring this matter to a close.”
