Back 2 School Fest At The Landing

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Channel 4 wants to help you with your back-to-school shopping. Aside from giving away backpacks on the morning show, we are also taking part in the Back 2 School Fest at the Jacksonville Landing on Saturday, Aug. 2.

Wal-Mart, the Pepsi Bottling Group and Sleiman Enterprises are hosting the Back to School Fest. The day-long celebration is designed to offer local families a fun, convenient way to get their children ready for the upcoming school year.

The first 3,000 children in attendance who bring a Wal-Mart receipt to the event will be given free backpacks. Children will then have the opportunity to fill those backpacks throughout the day with a wide range of brand new school supplies that have been donated for the event by several local companies, including Blue Cross-Blue Shield of Florida, Vistakon, Regions Banks, and Baptist Health.

In addition to the school supplies, the event will also offer free vision screenings and an eye glass giveaway.

Back to School Fest will offer kids an assortment of entertainment and fun activities. ROAR of the Jacksonville Jaguars? cheerleading squad will be on hand, as will various singers, dancers, stilt walkers, balloon artists, and face painters. The kids will also be able to participate in fun activities, including a bounce-house.

As an extension of the day?s festivities, Regions Bank locations throughout the Jacksonville area are also serving as collection sites for additional school supplies that will be donated to local schools in need.
