St. Johns River

WJXT Editorial by John Rafferty, Aired August 15, 2008

Two recent developments on the river front. First, Mayor Peyton is making waves to save the St. Johns River. City Hall may go to court to challenge a Putnam County paper mill's plan for a 4 mile pipeline into the river, a pipeline of wastewater pollution. This pipeline is a terrible idea. Channel 4 applauds our Mayor for doing everything possible to stop this plan.

And Jaguars owners, Wayne and Delores Weaver, have pledged up to $150,000 to back efforts to protect the river. The couple will donate $1 to the St. Johns Riverkeeper for every $2 dollars the nonprofit river-protection organization raises on its own. Both of these are positive steps to help protect our precious river.
