Suspect In Robbery At Graveyard Arrested

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man wanted in connection with the armed robbery of an elderly man at a Westside cemetery was arrested on Thursday, according to the U.S. Marshals.

The 84-year-old victim said on Aug. 3 he was visiting his late wife's gravesite as he has every day since she died a year ago when a small green car approached and the occupants asked him for directions before a man exited the vehicle, pulled out a handgun and robbed him at gunpoint.

Nearly two weeks after the robbery, police said there was a break in the case when the victim identified a man caught on tape inside a Westside gas station as the robber, and investigators identified the suspect as 23-year-old Bryan Wadsworth.

U.S. Marshals Service Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force said it obtained information that Wadsworth was in the Pensacola area staying with an associate.

They said on Thursday Wadsworth was seen in Pensacola driving the same vehicle that he was suspected of using in the armed robbery.

Wadsworth is facing charges in the Pensacola area and on Friday was being held awaiting extradition back to Jacksonville.
