JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – For the second time in a matter of weeks, a popular San Marco restaurant has been robbed.
An employee of The Loop told police he was leaving the restaurant late Saturday night when two robbers forced him back inside and demanded cash.
"He was getting ready to close. The employee started to come out the door when he was approached by two individuals," said Jacksonville Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Melissa Bujeda.
The same The Loop location on San Marco Boulevard was also robbed in July.
The victims of the most recent robbery told the sheriff's office the two unknown robbers forced them face down on the ground and demanded the money from the register and the money from restaurant's safe.
"The individuals believe the one individual was holding a gun. The specifics of that gun are unknown, or what he was holding. They did feel threatened," Bujeda said.
She said the robbers got away with an unspecified amount of money, and she said the recent robbery might have been committed by some of the same people involved in the July robbery.
"The suspect description is similar. The M.O.'s are a little bit different, but we are looking into everything possible to see if there is any sort of relation," Bujeda said.
The witnesses told investigators that neither of the men involved in the robbery made an attempt to cover their faces, so police believe they should be able to get a good description of the men from the victims and surveillance cameras.
Anyone with information that could help police solve the case is asked to call Crimestoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
