CRESCENT CITY, Fla. – Ten days after a 22-year-old man was stabbed to death by his elderly grandfather, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office called the killing self-defense and said no charges would be filed.
According to investigators, 89-year-old Howard Grisham and his grandson Jared Thorn got into an argument at their Crescent City home last month.

Thorn lived with his grandparents, Putnam Maj. Keith Riddick said.
After reviewing evidence and witness statements, deputies determined Thorn's death was the result of self-defense. Grisham was not charged.
Grisham served one term as District 1 county commissioner, leaving office in 2000.
