Man Arrested In Rooming House Killing

2nd Man Sought In Home Invasion Robbery

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville police have arrested a man in connection with the killing of another man during a home invasion robbery at a rooming house early Friday.

Police arrested Patrick Smith, 31, and charged him with felony murder.

Police said Smith and two other men tried to rob someone in the house on Tilden Street when one of the residents shot and killed one of the suspects, George Maxwell III, who was armed with an assault rifle.

Police said Smith and another man who broke into the home fled, and police later arrested Smith. Investigators did not say what led to his arrest.

The other man is still being sought by police.
