STARKE, Fla. – Two drivers were killed Thursday afternoon in a head-on crash of a SUV and a pickup truck on State Road 100 just south of Starke.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, David Donald Mitchell, 73, of Keystone Heights, was headed east about 1 p.m. when his Ford Explorer crossed the center line and struck a westbound pickup driven by 60-year-old Jonell Hart Bethea, also of Keystone Heights.

The collision happened about one mile south of Starke.
Both drivers were pronounced dead by Bradford County paramedics. Bethea's 11-year-old grandson was taken to Shands Gainesville Medical Center with minor injuries.
