Normandy Reopens After Pedestrian Killed
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The eastbound lanes of Normandy Boulevard were closed for nearly three hours while the Florida Highway Patrol investigated and cleared a pedestrian fatality.
Troopers said a pickup truck driven by 61-year-old Frank Yacovoni hit 39-year-old Patricia Miller just after 6 a.m. on Normandy between Chafffee and Herlong roads. That stretch of highway remained closed until almost 9 a.m.
State troopers said Miller was walking in the road when the truck tried to avoid her but couldn't.
Miller was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers said Miller was under the influence of alcohol.
