Fertility test for men coming to stores

Walgreens, CVS sell test online

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Many couples hoping to conceive use over-the-counter products to check when a woman is fertile, but soon men will be able to do the same.

Walgreens and CVS Pharmacy will begin selling a $40 test to check a man's fertility in stores in April. Both stores already sell the test, produced by Contravac, Inc., online.

According to Contravac, the test is similar to a pregnancy test. Semen samples are applied to a strip, which test indicates whether there is enough sperm for conception.

"I think it's great. If you're in a relationship, you can tell if they're fertile," said Gayle Adams.

"I don't have a problem with it. Why wouldn't you want to know?" said one shopper.

"It seems like guys are a little reluctant to try stuff, but women are always on the forefront of a lot of things. So if it's the guys turn, why not?" another shopper said.
