Man killed on tracks in St. Johns County
C.R. 210 crossing blocked by trail while investigation was conducted
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – A man on the tracks the railroad crossing at County Road 210 in St. Johns County was struck and killed by a train Friday afternoon, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies say the Florida East Coast train was traveling about 58 mph when the victim walked out of the woods and directly in the path of the train.
The train stopped after hitting the pedestrian, blocking C.R. 210 by U.S. Highway 1 for more than hours while county homicide investigators and the Florida Highway Patrol investigated.
The name of the victim was not released at the scene.
