Woman dies in Orange Park house fire

First fatal fire in Orange Park in 15 years

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – A 45-year-old woman died Thursday night when a fire broke out in her Orange Park home, fire officials said.

Just before 9 p.m., neighbors alerted firefighters to a fire in the duplex in the 500 block of McIntosh Avenue.  While no flames were visible, the woman's body was found in the bedroom of the smoke-filled unit, according to Orange Park Fire Department Chief Ty Silcox.

The victim's name was not immediately released.

No other structures were damaged and there were no other injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the state Fire Marshal's Office, but appears to be accidental.
