Aspiring astronaut.
Aspiring astronaut.

An aspiring astronaut may finally get his chance to fly into space.
John Roberts, 59, has dreamed about space travel ever since he was a boy and he finally may get his chance to fly.

He's entered the "Space Needle Space Race" contest and is one of 20 semifinalists selected out of 50,000 applicants from around the country.

Today is last day people can watch videos from the semifinalists and vote on the Space Needle's Facebook page to determine which five people will move on to a physical competition in Seattle.

A Jacksonville resident, Roberts, has been dreaming of space since he was a child and is thrilled to have made it this far in the competition. He hopes to make it to the next round in his quest to get to space.
