Palm Coast man sentenced to 7 years for child porn

NCIS: Man had thousands of images, videos

PALM COAST, Fla. – Federal officials found thousands of graphic videos and pictures of child pornography on a Palm Coast man's computer, resulting in his conviction and sentencing to seven years in federal prison, the U.S. Department of Justice announced.

U.S. States Attorney Robert E. O'Neill said Tuesday the Naval Criminal Investigative Service received information that Andrew Hitas, 65, of Palm Coast was downloading pornographic images of children to his computer. Agents confronted Hitas at his home on May 26 and he said he looked at "naturalist sites" that include nude photos of children.

Agents seized Hitas' computers and he admitted that he had images and videos of child pornography on them. An analysis of the computers showed that it had 3,904 images and 514 videos depicting child pornography, some including boys and girls who appear to be as young as 2-years-old engaged in sexual acts. Online chat logs showed conversations between Hitas and another person discussing sexual molestation of children.

Hitas was sentenced to seven years in federal prison and will be under supervised release for five years following his prison term. He will also be required to register as a sex offender.
