JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police are looking for whoever was throwing bricks at cars off Old St. Augustine Road in Mandarin on Friday night.
Jacksonville police said they know of at least two incidents along Old St. Augustine, just south of Greenland Road between Hood Landing and Plummer Grant roads.
Shelby Pagan said she was driving when a brick came flying at her car windshield and smashed the glass.
"I'm like, 'Who is going to throw a brick at a moving car?'" Pagan said. "We went and looked in the neighborhood five minutes after and we did not see anybody."
Pagan wasn't the only one. Police reports say another driver was also hit right around the same area at the same time. That driver is still too scared to talk about what happened because no one has been arrested.
Police don't have a good description of whoever threw the bricks, so they are not sure if it was children, teens or someone else.
"That could have easily killed anyone in the car," Pagan said.
"If you find yourself in a situation like that, if at all possible, don't pull off on the side of the road immediately because it could be someone trying to make you stop, so they could further engage you by robbing you, assaulting you or trying to take your car," said Channel 4 safety expert Ken Jefferson.
Pagan said she drove off and called police.
"I did not know what to do," she said. "I did not swerve. I jerked a little bit 'cause I ducked down a little bit. I did not know what to do. At least there was no one in the road that I would swerve into."
If you have any information about whoever threw the bricks, call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
