Sex offender indicted on failing to register

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 37-year-old Glen St. Mary man has been indicted by a federal grand jury on a charge of failure to register as sex offender in Florida after traveling from Ohio.

According to the indictment, on March 15, 2002, James Gallagher was convicted of committing a sex offense in Ohio. Between June and November of last year, subsequent to his conviction, Gallagher traveled from Ohio to Florida, where he has since lived.

The indictment alleges that he failed to register as a sex offender as required by the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.

Gallagher faces up to 10 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine, if convicted. He has been in custody since his arrest Jan. 25.
