AAA: More drivers on Memorial Day weekend

AAA expects 35M drivers over holiday weekend

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – AAA says that lower gas prices will have more people hitting the road on Memorial Day weekend compared to last year.

It is estimated that 35 million Americans will hit the road for the holiday weekend.

Gas prices are still high, but that number far exceeds the number of travelers last year.  Experts say with gas prices falling nearly 4 cents over the last week, there will likely be more people driving than flying this year.

While gas prices have gone down, airfare has not. The cost of a plane ticket is 8 percent higher than it was this time last year.
