Glynn police: Ex-con wanted on 4 charges
BRUNSWICK, Ga. – A man is wanted on four charges after Glynn County police say he tried to run over a woman Friday night, then fired a shot at a man who offered her a ride home.
Police say Joseph Lee Bailey, 36, of Hortense, got into an argument with 35-year-old Lisa Jones while riding in his car on Highway 32. Officers said when she got out of Bailey's truck, he tried to run her over.
Police say a passerby, Ray Blount, 18, and his 43-year-old father, Robert Blount, offered Jones a ride home. Witnesses say when they arrived on Old Post Road, Baily got out of his car armed with a handgun and fired one shot, which ricocheted off concrete and struck the elder Blount in the stomach and several places on his legs.
Blount was treated and released from Southeast Georgia Health System.
Police said Bailey dropped his gun at the scene and drove off.
Bailey is wanted on aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call the Glynn County Police Department at 912-554-7817 or Silent Witness at 912-264-1333.
