Tuesday marked a celebration for their year-long success after the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps program was nearly cut from the Duval County school budget last year.
Members of the JROTC program at Englewood, Mandarin, Raines and Wolfson high schools gathered inside the atrium at City Hall on Tuesday morning to highlight their accomplishments.
Mayor Alvin Brown, along with local businesses and groups, helped raise enough money to keep the programs operating for another year at the four schools.
Enrollment increased by 39 percent -- 162 more cadets compared to last year.
