Man sought in Glynn County shooting
GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. – Glynn County police are looking for a man they said fired a gunshot that ricocheted and struck another man Friday night.
Police were called to the 3700 block of Old Post Road at about 9:30 p.m. and spoke with 35-year-old Lisa Jones.
She told police she got into an argument with Joe Bailey in his truck while traveling on Highway 32. She said she got out of the truck and Bailey tried to run over her, according to police.
Passersby offered Jones a ride back to her home, police said. Once they arrived, 18-year-old Ryan Blount got out of the vehicle with Jones and they were approached by Bailey, who was armed with a handgun, police said.
At that time, the teen's dad, 43-year-old Robert Blount, of Hortense, got out of the truck and tried to calm Bailey, who then fired one shot, police said.
Officers said it appears the bullet ricocheted off the concrete, and Robert Blount was struck in several places on the legs and stomach.
Police said Bailey fled the scene.
Blount was treated and released from Southeast Georgia Health System. The weapon was recovered at the scene, police said.
There are four active warrants for Bailey, 36, of Hortense: aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
Anyone with information on Bailey's whereabouts is asked to call Investigator Bill Tomlinson at 904-554-7817 or Silent Witness at 904-264-1333.
